christmas present (part 2)

Went to Devil's Canyon on our way to Crater of the Moon.

Took a 'hike' down by the dam... that was a LOT of stairs!

                Devil's Canyon

Saw a quail with all her babies.
Amazing the amount of beehives that we would see along the road.  There were 4 to a pallet... had to do my math 2 or 3 times to really let it sink in how many hives there were!
    We saw lots of goats!
Bearded iris... wish these would grow here!!!
The flowers were beautiful!   Went to the botanical gardens in Boise and saw lots of blooms!

Our professionally photographed family pic!  Thanks Bridgette!
 Rosalee in the roses.
Elic enjoying a seat in the shade.

Rosalee's senior pic... okay... 8th grade graduation pic!
An old jail tower at the gardens.
We made it to Crater of the Moon, and it was cold!
Sweetpea and the kids.

 Love this saying.

Indian paintbrush-- would like to find some seeds of this one and see if it would grow at home.
We went spelunking!  Old lava tubes make great caves to check out!
Me emerging from the cave... made it out of the dark!!

 Creepy Elic!

 Lava formations.
 Georgea in the dead trees.
Went to the top of an ash pile (have to remember what that's called)  It was windy and chilly!
Looked it up-- cinder cone.

Our sunset on the way to Mountain Home, as seen in the side view mirror.

We collected on our Christmas present!!! (part 1)

Always nice to see the design of fields from the airplane!
Our first stop was Spokane.  We went to Spokane falls... that's a LOT of water!

At the falls area there's a park with a big red wagon slide.  The kids all went on it and had fun.  We also went to a parade... a real, long parade with lots of bands and flags!!

Dad and Mom posing with the lilacs.

The kids had fun on the carousel.  They have a place to collect rings, which was fun to see them try and catch... Georgea got a golden ring and won a free ride!
 Love the different bridges!

Amazing what keeps kids who have been trapped in a car all day entertained when they get out!

Elic and Georgea both 'rode' bikes while we were in Oregon!

We decided our ride was about the same size as the wagons the pioneers rode in... they probably had a little more head room, but we went a lot farther in a day!
 Beautiful gate!!
Rainbow on our way to Idaho.
 Our first campsite in Idaho.

Wildlife... A regular deer may not be impressive for most people, but we don't have little deer like this at home.  This deer was stuck between the two guardrails so we followed it until it got off the road.
